Large AHUs For New Biopharmaceutical Facility

Fläkt Woods has been awarded a trans European project to supply the air handling solutions on a new €200 million biopharmaceutical factory for Biogen Idec in Denmark.

This is the largest AHU turnkey contract undertaken by Company and proves the European capabilities of the Fläkt Woods Group. The contract is handled in the UK, manufactured in Sweden, and installed in Denmark, on behalf of Jacobs Engineering of Reading.

Appointed contractors will carry out the installation at Hillerod and be available throughout the warranty period of the equipment.

The new manufacturing facility will include 29 air handling units from the Company’s EU range, as part of a contract valued at nearly €700,000. The EU modular air handling unit gives total flexibility with it’s wide range of functions and options providing the optimum air handling solutions for industrial uses.

AHUs ranging from 4.0 - 33.0 m3/s - the largest unit is 4 m wide by 3.5 high. Two of the units are increased EU-84. These have oversized heights of 300 and 900mm.  

Manufacturing facility

The facility will be one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world covering more than 35,000 m2, and will be used to manufacture multiple products. The first phase of the project, label and pack is expected to be completed in late 2006. The project is part of the company's long-term development of the 60 acre Hillerod site.
