Fläkt Woods is providing the ventilation solutions for the new Westfield and Hermes £340 million shopping centre redevelopment in Derby, UK

Fans supplied through Fläkt Woods' Express Range distributor Alan Williams & Company Ltd, and purchased by Isotemp Ductwork of Cwmbran, will provide the air movement requirements for the new centre.

The 1 million sq ft Westfield Derby will transform and completely regenerate the southern part of Derby city centre. It will create over 100 new fashion and lifestyle stores, an 800-seat café court, a 70000 sq ft, 12-screen state-of-the-art Cinema de Lux with a seating capacity of 2500. 3700 car parking spaces will help reinforce Derby’s position as one of the principal retail destinations in the East Midlands.

Over 100 Fläkt Woods JM fans are being provided, for a combination of high temperatures (300^oC for 2 hours – tested in accordance with EN12101-3) and standard temperature venting. JM Aerofoil fans are possibly the most comprehensive range of fans available, ranging in sizes from 315 mm - 1600 mm diameter, with high efficiency performance for both normal and emergency ventilation applications.

All fans feature specialist highly efficient motors (with protection to IP55) and the supplied system includes Fläkt Woods cylindrical and splitter silencers, designed to meet the strict duct borne and atmospheric noise levels set by consultants Hoare Lea of Bristol. Adjustable pitch angle impellers allow the maximum aerodynamic performance to be achieved for a given motor output, therefore reducing running costs.
