Fläkt Woods Group has secured three contracts to supply specialised air handling units for the offshore oil and gas industries.
All the contracts are with AC Marine AS in Norway, the main contractor of the HVAC systems, and they involve the supply of the Company’s EUMM range of air handling units, specially made for marine environments. EUMM, a modular unit, offers flexibility of function, size and process and features 50 mm thick double-skin, flush-fitting aluminium or stainless steel panels, corrosion resistant components and non-hygroscopic, rigid sheet, mineral wool insulation.
Under a contract worth €300,000, a total of 30 AHU’s are being shipped to Iran as part of a contract for the Salman project. This project will significantly boost the capacity of oil and gas transfer from the field to Siri Island, located in the Mobarak region of the Persian Gulf.
Elsewhere, off the coast of Sakhalin Island, in the Russian Far East, the Sakhalin II project will export Russia's first Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) to Asia.
Here, a separate order has been placed for 21 AHU’s. The units have had to be specially equipped with 1.5 mm panels to help deal with the harsh arctic surroundings. The order, valued at over €900,000, will also test the Turboterm™ high efficiency rotary heat exchanger of the EUMM, which provides excellent heat recovery in cold weather conditions, and significant savings in refrigeration demand when it's hot and humid.
A third order for 3 AHUs is for the Statoil Volve platform, to be built in Thailand. The Volve oil field lies about 200 kilometres west of Stavanger at the southern end of the Norwegian sector. The development plan is based on production from the Mærsk Inspirer jack-up rig.
