AHU’s to the new Akershus University Hospital

Fläkt Woods has been chosen to supply air handling units worth €2.5 million to the new university hospital near Oslo, Norway.

The project is the largest on-shore HVAC-contract ever in Norway. The installation contract was signed by YIT Building Systems who has chosen Fläkt Woods as the supplier of the AHU’s.

The new hospital facility will include 141 air handling units from the EU-range. 106 of the units are in the hygienic layout and with casing air leakage class B. The EU modular air handling unit gives total flexibility with it’s wide range of functions and options providing the optimum air handling solutions for laboratory’s and operating theatres.

Construction of the hospital started 1 March 2004 and occupancy will take place in 2008. The facility covers 137.000 m2 with a total air supply of 390 m3/s. The premises include 615 beds, 22 operating theatres, 90 day-patient places, 108 outpatients rooms, 23 rooms for diagnostic imaging, a separate laboratory, paediatric centre, post hospital hotel and emergency treatment centre.

The new hospital is designed to be one of the most patient-oriented hospitals in the country, distinguished for service, quality and excellent treatment in close collaboration with the primary health services.
