Fläkt Woods Limited is the UK entity of the Fläkt Woods Group (FWG), an international company created through the merger of Fläkt (a former ABB company) and Woods (a former Marconi company specialised in Axial fans for buildings and industry) and is now owned by private equity firm, Sagard. Fläkt Woods Group is a specialist in Air Climate and Air Ventilation with net sales of c€550m and is a leading player in the global air management industry.
The portfolio of products and technical solutions is extensive, including Chilled Beams, Air Handling Units, Chillers, Displacement Ventilation, Axial Fans, Fire Dampers, Iris Dampers and VAVs. These products are manufactured in World Class facilities across Europe, including plants in Sweden, Finland and Colchester in the UK.
Operating from a new, purpose-built Head Office and manufacturing facility in Colchester, and from sales offices in Birmingham & Manchester, the UK business employs around 420 people.
The position of Controls Specialist includes full responsibility to lead a key business initiative to develop a full controls strategy for all air movement products offered into the UK markets. This would include the introduction of new and existing controls options that emphasise more energy conscious solutions – and will confirm position Fläkt Woods as a market leader in [axial fan] technologies and their applications. This position requires existing expertise in electronic controls and on demand ventilation scenarios.
The successful applicant would lead a New Product Introduction (NPI) and technical support team – and propose future expansion of our offering as part of the R&D budget year on year. A highly motivated individual, the applicant should be able to demonstrate a track record with the ability to identify and develop controls that increase scope of supply and improve business performance. Committed to continual improvement, the applicant will exceed increased expectations of line manager, peers and colleagues.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead NPI project – to be assigned by line manager.
- Detail specifications of integral and ancillary controls packages for purchase.
- Develop business sales strategies to extend basic product offering – aligned to strategic positioning to improve installed efficiency.
- Technical Support to Operations and Sales/Service
- Generating control documentation for Fläkt Woods products.
- Product lifecycle management.
Person Specification/Profile
- Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent.
- Proven experience of control design and applications.
- Familiarity of state of the art controls techniques and on demand ventilation options.
- Ability to communicate effectively – technical jargon busting.
- Ability to work to deadlines, with a keen eye for detail under pressure.
