Fläkt Woods has now relocated to a new headquarters building and a new manufacturing works, a facility that will complete its new business model and introduce new manufacturing processes.
Today the Group prides itself on some of the most famous brand names in the industry, operations in over 30 countries, more than 2,500 employees and a turnover in the region of €460 million.
"As a vibrant global Group, we can now offer a full range of products and solutions for every building ventilation, air treatment and industrial air movement requirement" says Paul Wenden, Business Development Director of the Colchester operations. "We believe that this capability gives us a clear advantage over other companies in what is still a generally fragmented industry".
Put into context the scope of their operations spans virtually every industry in the world, from creating benefit led air movement solutions for the biggest cruise liners under construction, supplying essential ventilation equipment for the safety of passengers in tunnels, to the development of a range of intelligent fan systems that regulate their use and energy consumption according to demand.
"Many of our products operate in the background of people's everyday lives, they're unaware that they are there, but people rely on them for their well being every day of their lives" explains Paul Wenden.
With the expansion and the new business model comes a different business philosophy, gone are the days of creating everything on site, replaced by a belief that you get what is best from the best supplier. The focus is now on design, product development, assembly, marketing and sales.
This ongoing transformation of Fläkt Woods is the key to maintaining its ability to win contracts globally. "At the same time we are improving our business performance, and standardising all of our processes, including lean manufacturing at the new facility" concludes Paul Wenden "The Company has been transformed, and we look forward to an exciting and successful future".
