What is believed to be one of the oldest examples of an electric fan, dating back to the 1880’s, was presented to Mike & Ruth Cayley, directors of Northern Fan Supplies Limited in recognition of a landmark sales achievement.
Mike and his team from Stretford in Manchester have been Fläkt Woods distributors for 22 years, and have become the first single distribution outlet to sell over £1 million worth of Fläkt Woods products in a single year, by far the highest sales from a single regional outlet according to the Company.

The fan bears the badge of an old name in British fan manufacturing, and is from an original design patented in 1883 by Lucius Blackman, one of the founders of the Blackman Air Propeller Company, the forerunner to Keith Blackman Limited which eventually became part of the Woods Air Movement group.
It has been housed for many years at the Colchester reception of Fläkt Woods and is noteworthy because, as well as remaining a sister Company to Woods Air Movement, Keith Blackman was for many years the Company where Mike Cayley cut his teeth as an apprentice and ultimately Sales Manager.
At the award ceremony Mike & Ruth made it very clear that their success was due in great part to their colleagues in their Manchester office whose in depth product and application knowledge ensures clients get the right fan for the job.
"Exceptionally for such a remarkable sales success, Northern Fans’ average order value was only £600, which means an incredible amount of hard work and a lot of fans have been sold to achieve these figures," said Neil Yule, Sales and Marketing Director of Fläkt Woods.
