New Draft ATEX Fan Standard Introduced.

The ATEX Draft Fan Standard, prEN 14986, which has been recently revised and issued for public comment, has resulted in significant changes to fan design and construction. These changes influence aerodynamic and acoustic performance together with efficiency.

Fläkt Woods, being at the forefront of this precise application, have striven to ensure that all fans supplied for use in potentially explosive environments are fully compliant with the revised ATEX Standard.

Standard fan selections will not meet the requirements of this standard, and will not provide optimum safety in explosive environments.

Flameproof fans do not necessarily comply with the ATEX standard, and despite popular belief ATEX is not the new terminology for flameproof.

Customers and end-users of fans must question suppliers at the initial stages to deduce whether their products comply with this safety critical standard.

Fläkt Woods will publish further selection guidance in the near future.
