History timeline The history of Fläkt Woods has its roots in a number of companies with old traditions including Svenska Fläktfabriken, Woods of Colchester, Bovent, Solyvent Ventec	and Bahco, to mention a few. In the short history below the main milestones of Svenska Fläkt and Woods Fans are presented.
November 2007: Fläkt Woods acquires SEMCO Incorporated in the USA and Symor Oy in Finland.   September 2007: Fläkt Woods is acquired by Sagard, Barclay's Private Equity, ICG and the management.

1 February 2002: The Fläkt Woods Group is formed. The new group brings together two of the world’s leading names in the ‘Air Movement and Treatment’ industry, namely Fläkt and Woods Air Movement. The group also owns other important brands including, for example, Solyvent Ventec and American Fan.

Svenska Fläkt In December 2001, ABB announces that the Air Handling Equipment Business Area of ABB has been acquired by Global Air Movement SARL (Luxemburg). In 1993 ABB Fläkt Produkt AB is formed through a merger of Fläkt Klimatprodukter AB in Jönköping, Stratos Ventilation Produkt AB in Enköping, Fläkt Veloduct AB in Järna and AB Richard Pettersson Products in Aneby. . In 1988 ABB is formed and the remainder of the Fläkt shares is sold to ABB. The Fläkt group including Stratos forms a Business Area within ABB 1987 The Fläkt group acquires the Bahco Company in Enköping, which is then renamed Stratos In 1984 ASEA re-acquires a majority share holding of the Fläkt Group. In 1960 AB Svenska Fläktfabriken becomes an independent company, listed on the stock exchange. In 1932 the Krüger empire crashes and the Swedish electrical company ASEA takes control of Svenska Fläktfabriken. The number of employees in Jönköping grows to 890 people. In 1927 AB Krüger & Toll takes over the share majority of Svenska Fläktfabriken.     In 1918 engineers Sven Söderberg and Robert Sundström start a company, which they name Svenska Fläktfabriken Söderberg & Co. Production starts in a mill by the Dunkehalla river in Jönköping, Sweden.

Woods Fans 2000: Marconi announces the sale   of Woods Air Movement to Global    Air Movement Holdings Limited a     company formed by Compass     Capital Partners     1998: Name Change - From    July 1998 Woods of Colchester   is now known as Woods Air Movement Limited. 1986: The American Fan Company is purchased by GEC and joins the Woods ‘family’.  1964: GEC plc takes complete control of Woods by buying-out the rest of the Woods family. 1945 GEC invests sufficient capital to gain controlling interest in Woods. 1937 By this time Maurice’s son Geoffrey has taken charge of Woods (1935), which now employs about 100 people. Being ambitious, the company is soon employing 360 people.       1909 Maurice Woods forms a company in Colchester producing single phase motors to suit the various different voltages in use.
