Fläkt Woods products selected for

a new shopping experience

Fläkt Woods is supplying a complete range of its world leading ventilation products for the new Ikano Retail Centre, to be known as the Erikslund Shopping Centre, which is currently under construction west of Västerås city center in Sweden.


This new shopping experience, is a joint venture between IKEA and Ikano Fastigheter, and will create a modern, convenient and comprehensive shopping mall with an IKEA and a large grocery store under one roof, as well as an attractive mix of market leading Swedish and international stores.

The YIT Group has won the ventilation contract for the IKEA warehouse of 40,000 m², and Fläkt Woods is providing the car park ventilation, (including high temperature emergency smoke extract fans), fire dampers and diffusers.

Sydtotal is the ventilation contractor for the indoor air climate part of the project and the Company selected Fläkt Woods to deliver 1,500 of their IQID and IQFC chilled beams as well as smoke extraction units.

Fläkt Woods’ chilled beams are integrated systems for ventilation, cooling and heating, fulfilling most needs for indoor climate. These induction beams are designed to manage high cooling effects that, being well mixed with room air, provide comfort and low air velocities in the occupied zones.

This contract includes a range of Fläkt Woods products which comprise:
• Chilled beams IQID, IQFC and IQCA.
• Car Park Ventilation, Car Park impulse fans
• Smoke extract fans JM High Temperature
• Fire dampers
• IRIS dampers
• Air terminal devices / diffusers with connection box

Annually, over 5 million visitors are expected to travel to the Erikslund Shopping Center, which will comprise an additional 90 stores and restaurants. Construction work is progressing well, and it is due to open in September 2011. The city of Västerås has a long tradition as a trading centre and Erikslund is already a busy retail park with several leading commercial company chains. The new two-storey shopping centre and a new IKEA will further strengthen the commercial area. Erikslund Shopping Center is strategically located next to the E18, which is the main artery between Stockholm and Oslo. There will be 3500 parking spaces and city buses that stop outside the Centre.
