Fläkt Woods has received an order for the delivery of 10 EUMM type Air Handling Units supplied for new ships for the Turkish Coast Guard. The air-handling contract is part of an overall deal for four new Search and Rescue Vessels; the biggest naval shipbuilding programme ever contracted to private industry in Turkey.

Fläkt Woods’ specialist naval EUMM systems are modern, modular units offering flexibility of function, size and process. The units feature non-hygroscopic, rigid sheet, mineral wool insulation with a density of 50 kg/m3, and comprise corrosion resistant components designed specifically for the maritime environment.
A computer-aided program based on a series of intricate algorithms enables Fläkt Woods to optimise selection and ensure that the units offered conform exactly to the customer’s requirements.
Commenting on the award win, Mikael Karlson, Director of Marine/Oil and Gas said; “Our customers are very familiar with the robust design and build of the EUMM air handlers. Their high-specifications make them the perfect solution for virtually any marine air-handling requirement.”
In addition to search and rescue, the new multi-function ships are designed to meet the various needs of today's Coast Guard Exclusive Economic Zone patrol, concerning smuggling prevention, fire extinguishing and pollution prevention.
The Air handling units for the first ship will be delivered 2009 and delivery for the others are planned for 2010.
