Fläkt Woods has secured a substantial contract to provide ventilation fans and auxiliaries for the first of what will be the world's largest cruise liners, Genesis Cruise ships.

The Company has won the contract from Royal Caribbean International to supply its world renowned JM aerofoil fans. The fans are typically installed to serve in the engine room, drive gear rooms, electrical rooms, and other functional service applications. The project is the factory's 9th ship set.
Attributing the contract success to the product's reliability, Martyn Pitcher of Fläkt Woods said "Owners need reliability and cannot afford failures. We use a highly reliable electrical drive motor, and our proven impeller and blade design provides longevity".
Fläkt Woods is supplying 55 fans in total on the 220,000 ton liner, ranging in diameter from 630 to 1600 and in output from 2.2 to 51kW. First deliveries for the first Genesis ship are due end of 2007 and for the second ship end of 2008 Capable of carrying 5,400 passengers and costing about 900m euros, each vessel will measure 360 metres in length and 47 metres across.
