Car Park Ventilation Systems

Biopolis Singapore

Fläkt Woods has been awarded their largest car park Jetfan order, valued at in excess of €500 thousand, for the supply of fans for the new Biopolis science park in Singapore. The Company will supply the car park, smoke control and general ventilation systems for the $300 million, 1.8 million sq ft research-park. Providing the ventilation solution for the car park will use 137 Jetfans, rated for 250oC to distribute the air in place of ductwork. Jetfans are ideal for use in car parks as they eliminate distribution ductwork, which is needed for conventional ventilation systems

Dubai International Finance Center

Fläkt Woods is supplying the ventilation solutions to one of the middle east's most prestigious buildings, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) headquarters building, The Gate. The Company's renowned Jetfan system will provide the ventilation solutions to the enclosed three-storey basement car parks for approximately 1,500 cars. Each level is ventilated via a common extract system, with supply air being provided via natural air inlets and the entrance/exit ramp. Each car park level has been split into a number of ventilation zones. In the general ventilation mode the system is operated according to the detected levels/location of pollution within the car park. In the emergency/smoke ventilation mode, fire rated motorised dampers close on the non-fire doors with extract being provided on the fire floor only. Selected Jetfans are operated depending on the location of the fire. Described as a massive processional archway, The Gate will be fifteen stories high comprising of 46,000 square metres of prime office space with retail outlets on the ground level. The iconic building was designed by the managing principal of the London office of international architects Gensler's and will house the Centre's executive offices, the Dubai Financial Services Authority and the Dubai Regional Exchange, as well as providing prime office space for leading international financial institutions. Capital Dubai, of which the Gate represents the first phase of development, will be a unique integration of buildings, which in combination will offer everything you would expect to find in a world-class cosmopolitan city - including offices, serviced apartments, hotels, shops and restaurants.

Esso House England

Fläkt Woods won a turnkey contract to supply the ventilation solutions for a prestigious London redevelopment, Esso House. In total 52 of the Company’s 355mm Jetfans were installed for the car park areas, located on the basement and mezzanine levels, along with the extract fans to provide a common extract system. The fans are capable of producing a thrust range of up to 37 N 50Hz, and designed for emergency operation of 300°C for 1 hour. Fläkt Woods supplied the complete package, which included the jet control systems for CO, installation, and electrical wiring. Located within the Stag Place Estate in Victoria, this design & build contract provided two buildings, the first of which forms an almost exclusively glazed dramatic curving structure rising to 10 storeys. The second building is a 6-storey office block with adjoining retail space topped by a roof garden. Fläkt Woods also created a complete CFD analysis of the car park to calculate the requirements of the ventilations system. The company also delivered 63JM Aerofoil fans for the project
