The comprehensive range of Air Handling Units that we offer allows us to deliver the best individual solution for any customer. Our R&D work focuses on reducing energy consumption and creating factory complete air handling system solutions with controls. Our experience in the Nuclear Power Plant market makes us the perfect partner for such applications.

Modular air handling units offer full flexibility allowing different sizes and functions to be combined to meet the strict requirements for Nuclear Power Plants. Our modular product range is modern and highly-specified, designed for customers with high demand on quality and energy efficiency. The units can be optimized for thermal, acoustic and/or hygienic requirements.

Computer-aided selection using a program based on a series of highly complex algorithms allows us to optimize selection and ensure that the unit offered conforms to the customer’s requirements. The sturdy frame members and solid aluminium corner pieces form a very stable framework which is well suited to the full range of sizes. All of the functional components are made by Fläkt Woods and conform to current standards and relevant guidelines.

Safety Culture

Fläkt Woods recognises that developing a genuine Safety Culture, as part of a programme to provide an assurance of Quality that is absolutely guaranteed, is paramount in serving the requirements of nuclear power stations. Our QHSE Managers work in close cooperation with our client’s Quality Management team. The entire Fläkt Woods team recognises that an assurance of guaranteed product and process quality is a prerequisite of doing business

Quality and safety in everyday focus

At our Technical Centre of Excellence in Sweden, research and laboratory testing is performed in all the main fields of air handling; - applied aerodynamics, acoustics, heat and mass transfer. Simulation of different climate conditions around the globe is executed for testing of product performance under real conditions. The laboratory facilities comprise test equipment for testing of complete products as well as components used in the air handling system.

Stationary test rigs are available for performing tests according to International, European and important national standards, ISO, EN AMCA, etc. Room comfort together with particle and gas concentration is studied in a number of rooms built up with the demands of standards for test purpose. Four of these rooms are connected to a complete air handling system including air handling unit duct system terminal units and supply/exhaust devices. The laboratory halls cover a total area of over 2000 m2.

 

Controls and Certificates

Fläkt Woods’ products and components are designed, manufactured and tested to international quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. All members of the Fläkt Woods Alliance are also ISO 9001 certified. Our test facilities are among the most advanced in the world, including impeller X-ray testing, sound testing and fire testing. Technical performance is in accordance with Eurovent Standards and Fläkt Woods is member of the AMCA.

Fläkt Solyvent Ventec in France is a leading supplier of fans to the Nuclear Industry, with over 15,000 fans installed in nuclear applications worldwide, including projects in France, Sweden, Belgium and China.

Fläkt Woods AB in Sweden was the main supplier of HVAC equipment to the Swedish nuclear power plants during the build-up period 1970–1985, including Barsebäck, Ringhals and Forsmark. More recently the firm has supplied additional AHU’s to the Ringhals Nuclear Power Plant, as part of a refurbishment of that facility.

Fläkt Woods Limited in the UK supplied Axial Fans to the Sizewell-B Nuclear Power Plant, along with other UK-based nuclear applications.
