Flexible, comfortable and energy efficient climate for the modern office!

Multi-service Chilled Beam STELLA

STELLA is our free hanging multi-service Chilled Beam characterized by:
-Flexibility
-Modularity
-Sustainability
-Smart controls
-Energy efficiency
-Pioneering nozzle technology

Pioneering nozzle arrangement

Thanks to pioneering nozzle technology and smart controls, the air flow is always sufficient and adapted to just-in-time need. Stella’s modularity and the Flow Pattern Control and Comfort Control functions allow flexibility in the office layout. Good indoor air quality is possible despite organizational changes and renovations without the need to change the installation.

User-friendly controller for optimal performance
The STRA-14 room controller is specifically developed for Stella. It is pre-programmed for chilled beam applications and contains a wide range of control functions including a unique three step air fl ow control for flexibility, comfort and energy efficiency. The user-friendly display enables fast and easy access for change of set-points and control parameters. For optional integration with building management systems, STRA-14 has Modbus communication as standard.

Flexibility in the office layout
Good indoor air quality is possible despite organizational changes and renovations without the need to change the installation. Thanks to the functions Energy Control and Flow Pattern Control, the air flow can be rearranged to fit a new layout of a room.

Fläkt Woods unique comfort control makes it easy to adjust the air flow. Using the patented control rails, the air flow is adjusted by varying the size of the hole lengths in the supply air channel. This can be done simply in conjunction with balancing. A regulating damper is not normally necessary.

The adjustable hole lengths permit different air diffusion (two-way, one-way and intermediate positions). The easy regulation of the air diffusion and capacity make it possible to adapt to future changed conditions. On delivery, the hole lengths are open to their maximum extent as the starting point for future balancing.

Properties

  • Simplifies balancing of the air flow
  • The comfort control is adapted to the respective chilled beam and is thus not of the same type for the different chilled beams
  • Easy to change the airflow for changed conditions
  • The adjustable hole lengths permit different air diffusion (twoway, one-way and intermediate positions).

The FPC (Flow Pattern Control) function for the IQ chilled beams provides high flexibility. The combination of flow pattern control (FPC) and the patented comfort control gives the IQ beam unique characteristics.

FPC provides the possibility to adjust the air flow pattern at different angles, 0 – 15 – 30 – 45, through built-in vanes and adjustable rails. The different directions can be achieved in sections of 300 mm within the beam. The flow pattern can easily be adjusted and the beam.

IQ Beams with FPC function are optimized for minimal noise and pressure drop.

Properties

  • FPC (Flow Pattern Control) is available for the ASTRA, STELLA, WEGA, IQID, IQFD, IQFE, IQCA
    and IQTA Chilled Beams
  • The airflow can be adjusted up to 45 degrees through built-in vanes and adjustable rails
  • Different directions can be achieved in sections of 300 mm in the beam.

Construction and function
The chilled beam STELLA is designed for ceiling mounting and is exposed. STELLA is also prepared for installation in series of up to three chilled beams. Dummy sections may also be purchased as options.

The air flow is directed slightly upwards through the vents, encouraging air to flow along the ceiling to ensure draught-free ventilation.

The air flow is easily adjusted using the patented Energy Control function, which also allows different forms of air distribution (two-way, one-way and mid-way position). For even greater flexibility there is also a Motorized Energy Control (MEC) option for load-dependent ventilation. In normal operation the beam is set to the chosen air flow setting. At times of heavy demand (increased supply air demand) the chilled beam is switched to boost mode by means of a pushbutton or CO2 sensor. If a presence detector or pushbutton is installed in the room the beam can also be programmed to switch to Energy Saving Mode (ESM), which reduces the supply air flow to a minimum.

Different settings of the Energy Control on both sides of the beam requires a damper at each air connection in order to make adjustment of the airflow.

STELLA is a multifunction chilled beam that allows a variety of optional functions to be chosen over standard, and is designed so that it can be configured for special accessories. In standard specification Stella is prepared for direct and indirect lighting, control and regulation equipment, Energy Control (EC/MEC), Flow Pattern Control (FPC), high air flow, heating and sprinkler functions. It is also designed to provide space for piping, wiring, loudspeakers, smoke detectors, presence detectors, etc.

The bleed nipple can be selected in the product code, but cannot be combined with the series installation option.

The base panel and side panels can be removed to simplify access to connections and controls, and for maintenance.

If chilled beams are to be connected in series they are configured to allow series-coupling of air and parallel-coupling of water, see diagram on product code page.
